Our Community
Bridge Meadows is founded on the principle that a community of caring, connected and empowered individuals can heal and enrich the lives of each other. Rather than relying solely on outside services, the community itself is the form of intervention. Bridge Meadows’ staff and social service partners help guide, rather than govern the community in forming healthy, supportive relationships. This unique and cooperative neighborhood includes an intergenerational community center, library, tutoring room, computer lab, and community garden. Program services cover four specific categories: education, recreation, health & well-being, and arts & culture.
Volunteerism and the desire to give is what binds the Bridge Meadows Community. Elders who live here are required to give 10 hours per week of their time towards helping children, families and the other elders who live here. We find most of our residents end up happily giving more of their time and are rewarded by the love they receive in return.
Albert Schweitzer said "I don't know what your destiny will be, but one thing I know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve."
